This painting is the culmination of many experiments with paint pouring. I have attempted to incorporate the random patterning of a poured paint surface into the controlled layering of my paintings for some time. This was the first painting where I have been successful with this idea, hence the title "Dovetail," which refers to the pieces of the painted surface fitting together to form a solid whole.
